Vitamins For Hair Loss

Just like the body, the hair needs a healthy diet and the right vitamins to stay healthy.  Unless you are on a diet, you probably don’t watch everything you eat and you certainly don’t add up all of the vitamins that might be in each serving of food that you eat on a daily basis.  If your hair is thinning, this may mean that there are probably specific vitamins for hair loss that your hair needs to rejuvenate each day that are missing from your diet.

Healthier Hair From Vitamin Use

Vitamin A is one of the most useful vitamins for hair loss. It works as an antioxidant that helps to produce sebum in the scalp. This vitamin can be found in dairy products, fish liver oil, red meat, green vegetables, carrots, and fruits. There is one word of caution however.  It is better to consume this vitamin by way of natural foods because it doesn’t wash out if the system like other antioxidants.  Too much vitamin A from a supplement can promote hair loss and can actually be toxic.

Vitamin C is another well-known antioxidant that will help you maintain your skin and hair.  Vitamin C is also beneficial to most parts of the body, so it great to take for many other thing as well. All of the citrus fruits contain vitamin C.  So do potatoes, dark green vegetables and green peppers.

Vitamin E is one of the best all-around vitamins for hair loss and skin tone. Vitamin E, combined with scalp massages is vital to promoting hair growth. Dried beans, soybeans, cold-pressed vegetable oils, raw seeds and nuts, wheat germ and green leafy vegetables are all very good sources of vitamin E. However, vitamin E can raise blood pressure and at the same time reduce blood clotting.  If you are taking high blood pressure medication or anticoagulants it is important to check with your doctor before taking Vitamin E supplements.

Inositol is yet another one of vitamins for hair loss that keeps hair follicles at a healthy cellular level. Adding Niacin or vitamin B3 also promotes scalp circulation. The food sources for this vitamin include fish, fowl, and meat.

Vitamins for hair loss work on all parts of your body.  This is why it is important to get enough of them.  Otherwise, your body will send vitamins and minerals to the most important part of the body first.  If you think about it, this means that your hair only gets what is left over after every other part of your body has been satisfied.  Don’t short-change your hair.  Make sure that the vitamins for hair loss that you are taking are enough to replenish what your body and hair both need.
